SCICLI
Monumental Baroque city with the shapes of a sublime living nativity scene, in 2002 its historic center was awarded the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with seven other municipalities in the list of Late Baroque cities of the Val di Noto. A baroque village in Sicily, immersed in the magnificent charm of the Iblei mountains. Charming landscape, rich in steep limestone walls, carob trees, low walls, churches and quarries: a gem in the heart of Sicily. The initial visual impact leave you speechless: it seems to be facing a meticulous and successful project of organic architecture. Hundreds of limestone dwellings sprout from the Iblei crags with so much respect of the surrounding landscape as to seem part of it. Spontaneous is the admiration that comes from those very light hands that, over the centuries, have managed to build mansions for man while preserving the love for nature. |
